Varicocele, a dilation of the veins in the pampiniform plexus, affects 15% of men. Prof. Gabriele Antonini employs retrograde phlebography, a minimally invasive technique, to treat this condition. Through a catheter inserted into the femoral vein, abnormal veins are occluded using sclerosing agents or metal coils. Benefits include faster recovery times and lower risk of complications. Patients experience pain relief and improved fertility.
