Correction of penile curvature with a three-piece prosthesis

Induratio Penis Plastica (IPP) is a condition characterized by the formation of fibrous plaques in the penis, leading to abnormal curvature that can impair erectile function and significantly affect a patient’s quality of life. In severe cases, such as dorsal curvature exceeding 90°, surgical intervention is necessary to correct the deformity and restore penile function.

Penile straightening corporoplasty is an advanced surgical technique used to correct abnormal penile curvature. In severe cases, like the one presented, implantation of an AMS CX 700 three-piece inflatable penile prosthesis was required. This device allows the patient to achieve an erection on demand, ensuring a satisfying sexual life.

The procedure involves an incision in the tunica albuginea and the implantation of the hydraulic prosthesis, which replaces the erectile function compromised by the disease. The three-piece prosthesis consists of inflatable cylinders placed within the corpora cavernosa, a pump inserted into the scrotum, and a saline reservoir positioned in the pelvic cavity. This mechanism enables the patient to control erections naturally and discreetly.

Performed by Prof. Gabriele Antonini, this surgery requires advanced surgical expertise and is intended for selected patients with severe deformities unresponsive to conservative treatments. The final result is a straightened penis and restored sexual function.
